The owner of this home called us because he had a musty smell in his home and bowing floors that he thought were being cause by an issue with his crawl space; he was right. When Mr. Cantey looked under the home, the ground was moist and there was mold growing on the beams and decking.
solution
Mr. Cantey suggested crawl space encapsulation for this Columbia, SC home. He provided that the patented CleanSpace Encapsulation System to do the trick. First we removed all the organic growth from the crawlspace. We then used a 20mil HDPE vapor barrier on the crawlspace floor on top of a drainage mat to ensure that any water underneath didn’t remain stagnant. We put R10 insulation board all around the crawlspace walls and then used a 16mil HDPE vapor barrier on top of that. The final touches were to install a SaniDry CX dehumidifier and covering all the vents. Now this homeowner never has to worry about any organic growth, musty smells or bowing floors again.
