Hurricane Joaquin's Effect is Felt by Many

Hurricane Joaquin roared into South Carolina on Friday, October 2nd.  With nonstop heavy rains all weekend, many South Carolinian cities flooded, driving locals out of their homes.  Images of crumbled roads, overflowing houses, and fleeing individuals on canoes scattered throughout social media and news outlets.  Grocery stores transformed into empty shells of barren shelves and abandoned frozen meals.  President Obama declared South Carolina a state of emergency on Saturday, and by Sunday, the National Guard arrived with warm blankets and supplies to help those who have lost their homes.  The rain finally began to slow by the end of the weekend, but the overflow of water created a destructive force which broke through at least 9 of Columbia's dams.  Although the rain has stopped, Hurricane Joaquin is not finished with its catastrophic wreckage.

Some of our employees were equally affected by the Hurricane as our family, friends, and neighbors.  Three Production Crew members were stuck in their home surrounded by hazardous and unstable roads.  One Production Crew member lost both his car and home to the flood, while one System Design Specialist had to evacuate his rental property taking only what he could place in his car.  We are all thankful for our fortunate luck that no one was terribly hurt, but our prayers are with those who are still battling against the destructive forces of mother nature.

It will be weeks until South Carolina is up and running again in full speed, but Cantey is operative and ready to help you in the best way we know; and we know foundation and crawl spaces.

With this historic rain downfall, the soil around an individual’s home expands like a sponge causing wall cracks, uneven floors, and sticking windows and doors.  In addition to the soil, stagnant water within your crawl space can attract critters and cultivate mold, which can cause rotting beams and floor joists.  These are all signs that a foundation problem is stealing value from your home, and Cantey Foundation Specialists is a way to protect your investment.  We are offering a free no-obligation inspection and $200 off any of our services during this time of rebuilding.

Cantey is here to help with any and all of your questions about foundation and crawl space solutions.  Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have, and we pray that you and yours are safe in this time of devastation.  #PrayForSC
