#CanteyCulture: The Breakdown of the Family

As we redefine our industry, we are also redefining ourselves. We promise to redefine not only how we serve our customers, but also how we treat our families and community. And in turn, this transforms ourselves to be better husbands & wives, fathers & mothers, sons & daughters, friends & neighbors, citizens & professionals.
During the holiday season, I implore my fellow #1 team members to contemplate on the family aspect of our culture. Because let’s face it, we spend more time with our coworkers than our own family. But this is something we can embrace and revolutionize into a more positive mindset.
I have come to the realization that over the past year more and more team members are spending time with each other; from golfing to 5k races to birthday parties, coworkers are no longer coworkers, but they are friends and in some instances the closest family they have. I hope we all strive to have these kinds of relationships within our #1 team because it creates a more productive and fun work environment.
But sometimes that is easier said than done. I read a book called “Everybody Matters” by Bob Chapman, and one of his themes is the idea that other should be treated as your own precious child. By becoming a patient mentor who guides the individual properly, the individual will grow and become accountable for his/her own actions. I believe by applying this concept to our company, we can benefit from this mindset change which will start a domino effect.
By treating each other inside the company as family, we will begin treating our customers as family, and then it will ripple into our own personal lives to make us better individuals towards our own families, friends, and community.
